“I believe arts education; that music, theater, dance, and the visual arts, are the most creative ways we have to find the gold that is buried just beneath the surface. They (children) have an enthusiasm for life, a spark of creativity, and vivid imaginations that need training – training that prepares them to become confident young men and women.”
– Richard W. Riley, Former US Secretary of Education
Young people should have an education that gives them the opportunity for a wide variety of learning experiences. N.E.W. Generation Preparatory High School of the Performing Arts is dedicated to keeping art education in schools. Our students are expressive beings and 21st century learners who need more mental and creative stimulation than students of the past. The performing arts programs at N.E.W. Generation are designed to give our students the outlet that they need to explore their creative nature and reach their full artistic potential, as we Nurture the Education Within.
N.E.W. Generation we will offer the following programs:
The dance curriculum is designed to expose our students to many styles of the art and to prepare them for upper level institutions of dance. All students will receive technical instruction in dance history, dance theory, nutrition, and dance styles from different cultures across the world. Our students will have an appreciation for dance as well as a strong foundation in the field.
Our goal is to intrinsically motivate students through great music. The music program is designed to give our students individual instruction in vocal and instrumental theory and history, and to teach them about various musical instruments and vocal choirs. This program will increase their education of music nationally and internationally.
The theater program will introduce students to theater production, theater performance, musical and technical skills of theater, diction, theater history and acting styles. Students in the theater program will also receive training in stage design, scene design, costumes, sound and lighting.
The visual arts program will introduce students to various forms of visual media in graphic arts and design. Students will be engaged with the latest technology while visually expressing their original creativity and developing and showcasing their ability to communicate ideas through a variety of media. Graphic Arts is a project oriented, hands on activity program using both individual and cooperative tasks.
